Chalei
The Good One!

|
Chalei And Sara
Born on on a ranch that commercially raised exotic birds and animals to
sell to the public, Chalei came into the world with a deformed mouth and
only a small flipper for a front leg. She would have been killed
the day she was born, but escaped death when a ranch hand saved her
life, and secretly gave
her to a to a special lady who raised her on a bottle
and loved her very, very much.
Faced with caring for Chalei's problems, a family, and limited
resources, her new owner was tireless in caring for her, and somehow
managed to have several lifesaving procedures and surgeries done to strengthen her front leg to help keep it from
breaking down.
As the years passed Chalei's became a beloved inspiration to everyone as she would scoot in the back seat of her owners
big four door sedan and visit animal events, and nursing and group homes,
as well as the children
and staff at
Valley Children's Hospital (now known as Children's Hospital of Central California).
She would bravely hobble along on three legs visiting and bring joy to
everyone she met.
Then several real life tragedies got in the way and her beloved owner could no longer keep her. Chalei
and her forever friend Sara were placed in a petting zoo
where they
lived for several years. Sometime along the way she managed to survive a
dog attack and the loss of her flipper when she caught
it in a chain link fence and nearly tore it off.
Surgery/amputation saved her life but
left her with a small shriveled stub instead of the little
flipper like leg that had
dangled from her chest. Then...The Petting Zoo closed down and no one
wanted Chalei and Sara, and we received a call from her former owner asking if we could take them, and of course we did.
Chalei has a wonderful spirit, never causes any problems, and is one of the
kindest and most caring and loving animals you could ever meet.
She also loves attention, carrots, watermelon, and treats, and we
cherish her for all the joy and love she has brought to us and so many
others over the years.
Sara on the other hand is a real character. She loves water and will
bathe all day in a plastic wadding pool. She is curious and into
EVERYTHING. She loves to race around the
ranch and will occasionally pick on Chalei, but they are inseparable and
Chalei depends on Sara. She is her lifeline.
Your Help is Very Much Needed!
Chalei has now been started on a special medicine that will help her to
survive and protect her legs. It is VERY expensive and she must
have a shot every month. She really needs it.
Please visit our donation page and help her get the medicine she so
desperately needs.
