About Us
We have an
amazing and dedicated Board of Directors and Advisory
Council, our president is a retired Sheriff’s Criminal Livestock
Investigator with hundreds of investigations, arrests, and
convictions through the criminal courts in precedence setting
cruelty cases.
Along with his years of service and dedication,
he has also worked to help pass and change cruelty laws and
regulations for pets and livestock.
His advice and support has been
invaluable.
And we are also so very grateful for the
other members of our Advisory Council, those who are always there with
their many years of experience and advocacy for us to call on.
Our Chief Executive, Gini Richardson, one of the founders of Animal
Health and Safety Associates/Pixie Projects, has worked all her life to
help and care for abused animals with and emphasis on those
who were handicapped and unwanted.
As a member of the California Equine Council she worked
with its founder to help pass AB 49X (the Tripping Bill) outlawing the
cruel practice of tripping horses in California, and also signed Prop 6 on
behalf of
California
voters that made it a felony to sell a California
horse for slaughter for human consumption.
Representing the interests of a major horsemen’s
association , Gini worked for over 15 years in the State Legislature
personally writing and seeing a number of bills signed into law dealing with such issues as the humane transportation of horses
to slaughter (AB 477) prior to the passage of Prop 6, AB 1900 (prior to the
passage of Prop 6) that a created a paper trail and inspection and
identification system on all horses leaving the state destined for
slaughter in order to help find and recover lost and stolen horses,
as well helping on other bills that dealt with cruelty, theft, and
fraud, while working
to prevent the passage of legislation that
would have lessened current laws for the protection of animals. She also
volunteered as an advocate for the elderly and special needs
individuals.
